I don't much care if they have bad aim, or are slow, or don't have a lot of HP, because I can fix all of that with Ring missions. In the early game, I'll take a guy with standard CI, because I've got more time to level him, but as the game grinds on, I'll really be looking for geniuses in armor. My entire A-Team will be Savants with tons of points, so I'd prefer that they start out at at least above average, but preferably Gifted or higher. How would you like a ranger who could run and gun, go concealed, use rapid fire AND chain shot AND rupture, and shred armor? You can build that Ranger. So it matters, because you purchase extra abilities for your troops with those points. Each time you perform one of those actions, there's a chance you'll earn an AP, and the higher your CI, the more chances you get to earn. You earn AP's by advancing in rank, and by performing certain actions in combat (taking a shot from high elevation, flanking shots, ambush kills, etc). You can improve CI in the ring, once you build it, and the improvements are retroactive, so when you raise someone's CI, they get points added to their queue as if they had been that level all the time. That starts NOW, and what makes an A-lister is Armor and good combat intelligence.Ĭombat intelligence is critical because it controls how many ability points your soldiers earn. The group of guys you'll take on the final mission.
XCOM 2 WAR OF THE CHOSEN WALKTHROUGH MOD
Here's my starting squad, and you know what - I'm loving the guy with two armor already (armor is a randomized stat with the mod I'm using - normally it only gives 0 or 1 armor, but very rarely, you'll see some crazy guy with 2 armor.įor me, this game is all about building your A-team. You get ZERO control over your starting troops. With all that out of the way, let's jump into the first mission: Most of my games, I play on commander level, but this walkthrough is being done on Veteran level as my sense of it is that this is the most commonly played difficulty level and as the difficulty level changes, the strategies to win must necessarily change with it. The final one allows you to "respec" those bonus abilities that troops get in the training center so you get the ones you WANT. I dismiss the ones I have and eventually buy a captain or above sniper to get the perk in the GWC. The reason for this is because I don't like, or use snipers. The second lets me pick a rookie's first promotion so it's not random. The first one is a stat randomizer for troops. I use three mods: Not created equally, commander's choice, and I am the commander here. Ok, enough small talk, let's get down to business! At the very least, you'll get a chance to see "live" how my various decisions hang together and reinforce one another, which is a very important aspect of strategy. If you do, or if you're struggling to develop your own playstyle, then this might give you some ideas and inspiration.
XCOM 2 WAR OF THE CHOSEN WALKTHROUGH SKIN
There are multiple ways to skin this particular cat, so you may not find this playing style to your liking.

In the sections that follow, I'll be walking you through how I play the game.

XCOM 2 WAR OF THE CHOSEN WALKTHROUGH HOW TO
Originally, I had started adding this walkthrough to the end of my strategy guide, but then thought better of it (Besides, I had forgotten how to add images, so the first several sections were lacking them - this then, is kind of my do-over) So, if you've read my XCom 2 strategy guide, you might be wondering how all the pieces fit together.
